"Clouds come floating into my life,

no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky."
-Rabindranath Tagore

Today I woke up with an earnest to finish all my unfinished business.
Indeed it's been more than three hours and I have finished but very little.
Despite my under-accomplishments, I felt elated.

With dawn came the soft drizzle of raindrops,
and when my father opened our front door, the smell of the rain wafted and seeped through the screen door.
It felt refreshing standing at the foot of the stairs, facing the doorway.
I have always loved the rain.

I waved my dad and baby sister goodbye.
They got on the family car, my dad to his office and my sister to school.
I retreated upstairs and set myself upon my task.
After some time I looked out my window.
I held my breath.

Have you ever seen the world outside a rain-beaten window?
The clouds so violently gray, streaked with lightning
and thunder-rolls rumbling down accompanying the pitter-patter of rain on the asphalt, on the ground, on my mother's garden.

"Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby."
-Langston Hughes

"Let us keep the dance of rain our fathers kept and tread our dreams beneath the jungle sky."
-Arna Bontemps

"Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams."
-Ashley Smith
